HOW DOES IT WORK

As a traveler, you know that great experiences and memories happen “outside the comfort zone”. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. You can explore a foreign place without relying on public transportation, risking a rental vehicle, or booking accommodations in advance, which often locks you into a fixed route and schedule.

A traveler must travel, ergo must have a sense of freedom from moment to moment.

The Moving Couch offers just that: simplicity and comfort. All you need is your backpack and to let us know where and when to pick you up.

Ok... So how does it work?

A van will pull over and your Vanguyde is going to high five you. Together you will establish the general route and the major objectives for the trip. Of course you can deviate however you want from the previous route and set a new one, or several. You are the traveler, and this will be a van life experience.

With the van, you can travel to your chosen destinations, sleep comfortably onboard, and ask your guide for local dining recommendations or tips on finding a nearby host if you’re craving a proper bed. You’ll also learn about local traditions and enjoy authentic experiences. Visit quaint villages or hike rugged mountains while your base camp is set up. Cook over a campfire in remote spots, read the stars, and wake to the aroma of fresh coffee and a breathtaking view. Then, hit the road for your next adventure.

You’ll sleep in the van while your guide pitches a tent nearby.

...So what is this van?

The van is a rugged alternative to an RV, equipped with everything you need for adventure. Like a Swiss army knife. It includes :

If you have questions regarding the voyage preparations or about wanting to add a trailer for carrying motorbike or a kayak for example, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

FIND YOUR ADVENTURE

If exploring is in your genes, you'll love what we have planned for you. Or better yet, you could "Indiana Jones" the trip for a more personal experience and we'll tell you the best routes, set the campsite and take the photos.

You could start in one place and end the trip in another. Or have the van as a basecamp waiting for you as you hike the mountain. Just make sure you allocate enough time for breakfast and for the objectives of the day, time for traveling in between, time to search for a camp spot and setup, dinner time and the campfire stories.

Here's an example: breakfast and packing until 10 AM, and in order to find  a camping spot and make the preparations until sunset, no more than 8 hours of sightseeing should be allocated. Usually there are four hours for the road and four for pictures.

OUR TRIPS

We worked late, frown, pointed at the map and selected a bunch of places that will make your day. Then we connected them and came up with five suggestions for a well-deserved holiday.

We'll start in the heart of Romania and travel to one of the most representative landmarks of Transylvania. Camp beside a sleeping volcano with beautiful forests and lazy river. Take a glimpse of medieval scenery between castles and ruins. Meet warm-hearted locals, taste the rural beauty and simplicity. Follow the footsteps of Charlie Ottley’s Netflix series “Flavours Of Romania”, or get on one of Top Gear’s favorite roads zig-zagging through Carpathian Mountains. And those are just some of the possibilities.

These itineraries weave together off-the-beaten-path attractions and scenic campsites for a unique adventure.

I thought it would be different but it surprised me anyway, both Romania and this service. I’ve been in this country before but this was the first time leaving the cities and really getting to know it. The rainy day was not so fun.

We chose wisely by booking the towards the mountains 2 days trip, the foggy day did not matter at high altitude. Allot to see and not so much time on the road. The bear sanctuary was my favorite, and the Bran castle. Our guide was working hard to answer to the 4 of us but he pulled through all our needs. Thanks

Camping was amazing! Cocking at wood the fire that we collected from the forest in a big pot and sleeping late in a roomy sleeping bag changed my perspective on outdoors. Looking forward for a new experience maybe to the sea shore. Thank you for your openness

Lucian is an amazing tour guide. He has lots of interesting facts about all the places we visited. He provided a seamless tour for us and was accommodating, offering additional stops/experiences as requested by us. His warmth and friendliness made the tour a delight.
